It’s that time of year. Rihanna joins music’s top talent in heading to the Grammy Awards, the industry’s top honor based not as much on chart success but songwriting, producing and quality overall.
Nearly a week away from the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, airing Sunday, February 12, Rihanna has been confirmed to perform and is nominated in three key categories. In no particular order, let’s recap Rihanna’s nominations:
Best Rap/Sung Collaboration:
This year, Rihanna is nominated twice in this category. The first nod for her single, “What’s My Name” ft. Drake. The second, for her contribution to Kanye West’s “All of the Lights”. Ironically, Rihanna is no stranger to Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Infact, she has won twice before, first in 2008 for “Umbrella” and again in 2010 for “Run This Town.”
Best Pop Vocal Album:
A first for Rihanna, the Best Pop Vocal nomination is thanks to “Loud,” her fifth studio album. She will face Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Adele and Cee Lo Green in this category.
Another first and major nomination for Rihanna, Best Album is among the night’s most coveted honors. Again, the album nominated is “Loud”. Taylor Swift and Arcade Fire won Album of the Year in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
While these nominations will go directly to producers and songwriters, songs Rihanna was featured on are also nominated for Best Remixed Recording non-classical (Only Girl In The World, Rosabel Club Remix); Song of the Year (All of the Lights, Kanye West); and Best Rap Song (All of the Lights, Kanye West).

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards air Sunday, February 12 at 8pm (CBS).
