Some of us are always curious about what others criticize. The Taj Palace has been updated. The décor still has party decorations much like viewers see in Indian musical videos. However, the back ground has been complemented with Victorian styled furniture, chandeliers and a very high quality of Indian art. Some pictures depict night club erotica, though, always, in very good taste. Those are no ordinary dancing girls from the countryside. The atmosphere is downright swanky. Expect your wait staff to wear colorful turbans.
The dining room has private booths for quiet conversation. The banquet facilities outside of the buffet dining option around the bar hold several large tables for group encounters. Everybody can go out together after work and be seated at the same table. Everybody could go out after work on Friday night and eat and drink all they want for a charge of $44.95.
The waiter said they do not include seafood on their buffet weekend offerings. There were several shrimp and fish offerings on the menu. He said they do offer lamb and goat on the weekend buffet on a regular basis. Taj Palace lamb entrees include Lamb Korma, Lamb Kodai, Lamb Saagwala, Lamb Vindaloo, Rogan Josh, and Keema Dum.
If you have been afraid to taste goat either because it is an unusual dish on the American menu or because it is like eating a former pet, this is the place to try something new. Food historians believe that goats were among the earliest animals to be domesticated along with sheep and dogs. Most of the animal protein included in the diet of North African and Middle East nations today includes preparations of goat meat. Goat meat is lean and low in fat as compared to beef. In fact, goat meat has 65% less fat than beef. The Curry Goat dish is highly recommended at Taj Palace.
The servers are very friendly and accommodating but also shy. Many of them may be new to this country. They speak English but a bit uncomfortably.
India is repudiated to be the world’s largest democracy, and it is the second most populated country in the world. It is a nuclear armed state. The country has a large urban middle class which includes a skilled workforce; therefore, they are popular with international companies.
Taj Place has an urban ambience. This is no country roadside stand or diner. Fun, pleasant, competitive with other local eateries of its kind, and definitely not dangerous – a great place for a date or after work happy hours.
