Parents of missing Polk County woman, Megan Elizabeth Montgomery are en-route to Cincinnati, Ohio where Megan’s 1997 Ford Mustang has been located.
Tony and Aletha Montgomery have been worried sick since their daughter disappeared from their home sometime after she went to bed on Friday, January 27, 2012.
Megan’s father, Tony Montgomery, states that he went in her room on Saturday morning and Megan was gone. The windows in her bedroom were opened up all the way. Megan’s car, a dark green 1997 Ford Mustang with a beige hood and body damage on the sides, was also gone. The family soon discovered that her Facebook page had been deactivated.
Tony Montgomery contacted the Polk County police to report Megan as a missing person, however; Polk County Police Chief, Kenny Dodd stated that his department did not list Megan as a missing person because there was no evidence of foul play and she is a legal adult.
The Polk County Police Department did issue a lookout to Polk and surrounding areas for her vehicle but so far, police have had no contact with Megan.
Megan sent a text on Saturday, January 28, 2012 to a friend in Ohio. The text stated that she couldn’t get a hotel room and that she was afraid she was going to have to sleep on the street in her car. The friend contacted police as well as Megan’s family after reading about Megan’s disappearance.
Megan is a student at Georgia Highlands College and according to her mother; Megan was excited about the possibility of financial aid so that she could study full time again to become a teacher.
Megan was also excited about a probable engagement in the near future. Megan and her boyfriend had recently been to Jarod for diamond selections. On Friday evening before her disappearance, Megan talked with one of her best friends about her future with her boyfriend.
Megan missed Saturday appointments which she had scheduled the Friday before. According to her mother, she was insistent about the importance of the appointments. Megan also had a Saturday afternoon date with her boyfriend which she was extremely excited about. Megan’s boyfriend is not missing and has been assisting with all search efforts.
Megan is 5-feet-4-inches tall, weighs 120 pounds and has dark hair and green eyes. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police. Click here to access the Facebook page that has been created for any information regarding Megan.
