American Gra-Frutti, a dedicated gluten-free bake house in Roswell, GA, has expanded their line of gluten-free sweets to include customized cakes, novelty treats and more cupcake/frosting flavors.
Their new flavors of cupcakes include: yellow, red velvet (available year round) and chocolate cake with butter cream and mint chocolate chip frosting options. All of the new cupcake flavors can be picked up at the bake house, or they can be purchased locally at: Sweet Sensations Espresso Bar (Chocolate, Chocolate Mint, and Red Velvet cupcakes), and the Shepherd Spinal Center (all flavors) in their cafeteria. Of course these cupcake flavors can easily be transformed into custom cakes.
Unfortunately none of the new cupcake flavors can be made dairy free at this time. I am hopeful that using a product like Vance’s DariFree (powdered milk substitute) will solve this dilemma. I did try small amounts of all of the cupcakes flavors and they were moist and flavorful with a perfect texture, but I would love to be able to eat them on a regular basis. The chocolate cake topped with mint chocolate chip frosting was my favorite. It was like eating a cupcake version of a thin mint cookie.
Just in time for Easter the masterminds at American Gra-Frutti have created some novelty treats for the big kid in all of us:
- Thumpers are You Love Chocolate Chip cake enrobed in dairy-free chocolate. I have had these and they are yummy. The cake is so moist and the chocolate melts-in-your-mouth. $2.99
- Bunny Bites are a twist on cake pops (they come with no stick). They have a gluten free/ dairy-free version made with You Love Chocolate Chip cake. They also have a gluten free version made with Vanilla cake. Both are enrobed in rich chocolate. $1.50 or 2/$2.99
- gRabbits are their spin on a Ding *ong. These are hand held chocolate covered treats. Inside: two layers of our moist vanilla cake sandwich frosting. $3.99
If you want to ensure that your favorite cupcake flavor or novelty is in stock it is a good idea to call ahead, or to place a special order three days in advance. Make sure to allow a minimum of a week for a custom decorated cake.
