Amy Duggar, the lovable cousin from 19 Kids and Counting and subject of a recent extortion plot, appeared this morning on the Today Show to set the record straight about the alleged racy photos of she and Branson singer James Garrett. She told host Ann Curry this morning…
I’m here to set the record straight. There are no pictures like that. There’s never been any kind of intimate relationship. He’s a friend of the whole family. It’s just completely a laughable situation.
Amy Duggar explained this morning that her grandmother actually took the photos and she had them posted on her Facebook page. She found out about the extortion plan when a publicist from TLC contacted her and said they received some “disheartening news.”
Teresa Hunt, a freelance photographer from Iowa, was the person who attempted to extort money for the alleged compromising photographs. She worked with James Garrett on and off again for two years. I spoke to Garrett last week and he said…
At first we laughed about it because nothing could be further from the truth.
The FBI set up a sting operation and authorities arrested Hunt for trying to convert the supposedly intimate photos into $10,000 cash. She remains in jail and will undergo a mental evaluation. According to Garrett, Hunt will likely enter a plea bargain, rather than face a trial. “She was caught, so the evidence is definitely against her,” Garrett said during our interview.
Amy Duggar is embarking on a new music career and remains in the public spotlight. She stated this morning on Today…
Being in the public eye is definitely something where you don’t realize that every eye is watching you. Everybody. So, you’ve got to be a really good role model. I will continue to do that.
This is a really big week for Amy Duggar from 19 Kids and Counting. In addition to this morning’s Today Show appearance, Amy is making her national singing debut on tonight’s new episode called “Music with the Duggars.” Interestingly enough, it was taped several weeks ago and took place during James Garrett’s show in Branson. Be sure to check it out tonight at 9/8c on TLC.
