Buffalo Winterfest and Powderkeg Festival – Saturday and Sunday, February 11th and 12th in Niagara Square and at Statler City in downtown Buffalo. Contests include a snowman building challenge, a strongman competition and a touch football tournament; there will also be live music and the Zumba Fitness Dance Party at Statler City, as well as a beer garden. Be Mine With Wine – Friday through Sunday, February 10th through 12th at participating wineries on the Niagara Wine Trail. Hours are Friday noon to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6 p.m.; tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Find out more at www.niagarawinetrail.org.
Hearts in the Gardens – Tuesday, February 14th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave. in Buffalo. A fundraising gala for the National Garden Festival, the event will feature hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, and a silent auction, plus the Gardens’ beautiful displays, including Night Lights at the Gardens. Tickets are $50 per person or $75 per couple (RSVP by February 7th); find out more at www.nationalgardenfestival.com.
