Many people do not realize that throughout history until the late 1800’s, the human soul was always apart of all arts of the healing practices. It was never considered separated from the body until a man named William James who was is considered the father of American Psychology (no not Sigmund Freud who is known for being the Father of Modern Psychology.) William James wrote a book during his time called, Principles of Psychology. His thoughts of psychology were concerned with the same beliefs of the empiricists and positivists of his time. At that time William wanted to follow the existing views that considered a metaphysical entity, i.e. the soul to be absurd. Of course in his day, no one wanted to feel set apart from the ruling powers of the natural sciences and their dictates.
The psychology of that time was based on behaviorists’ views. This type of psychology is also still in existence today. However, it is used as an adjunct to the majority world-view of the psychology of holism.
The problem with the solely behaviorists psychology is that it tends to look at people as though they were simply blood animals and not encompassing a true spirit or soul. It is duly noted that the reasoning behind the switch among other things was that to consider things differently would have been tantamount to voodoo or witchcraft. America was still very young and metaphorically speaking, in the throws of a learning curve as America was striving for individuation from Europe and in the mist of learning to crawl before she could walk.
Today the notion of a body without a mind or spirit (soul) would be considered preposterous and even naive thinking. As we now, not only understand this on a scientific level through Albert Einstein’s Quantum Physics, but we also sense it on an even deeper level through collective consciousness and intuition. We know and understand how energy travels thought. A simple experiment will assist the reader in understanding this concept. Close your eyes and think of something and just notice how a feeling also follows what you are thinking about. Well that feeling is energy for which the Ancient Greeks termed Dunamas (dynamic) or power. Energy (power) is simply information that moves just as your thoughts run in perfect parallel with a stream of feelings associated with your thoughts.
In fact, it is well known that feelings came before thoughts. We know this by looking at the human brain and how it evolved from (pre-frontal lobe) pre-historic man to modern man who is now endowed with the frontal lobes or thinking brain. We see this example in animals. They sense and feel rather than think. Feelings are intelligent information because they can assist the human in processing his/her thoughts in order to help the human make intelligent choices based on both feelings and thoughts working in concert. Our feelings are like our human Geiger counter to help us make the right decision and follow through with the correct course of action in order to bring about the best outcome. Are intuitions (inner- knowing’s) or feelings are just as valid as our thoughts. In fact they can keep us out of danger more than just our thoughts alone.
It is so wonderful to know just how skillfully and wonderfully we were created. The human being was engineered like no other species. Allow your mind to flow with the energy of information. This examiner urges the reader to trust himself or herself and their inner knowing’s or gut feelings when making important life altering decisions. You will live the better for it.
