The Summer concert season forecast just turned up the temperature a few degrees. California surf rockers the Beach Boys are launching a 50th anniversary tour and will play at least one Ohio date, in Cuyahoga Falls at Blossom Music Center on Wednesday, June 13th with special guest Foster The People.
Tickets via Live Nation are $40.00 (lawn) to $117.80 (front stage pavilion) with other prices in between and go on sale this Saturday to the general public.
The five Beach Boys partcipating in the reunion are Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks.
Brian Wilson has not toured with the Beach Boys in 46 years although he has performed with them on special occasions.
Founding members and Wilson’s two younger brothers Dennis Wilson and Carl Wilson passed away in 1983 and 1998 respectively.
Members of Brian Wilson’s backing band, alongside John Cowsill and Scott Totten of the current touring incarnation of The Beach Boys, will be accompanying the core members of the band on tour. Love told Rolling Stone magazine, “Brian Wilson has an incredible band. We’re using most of his band. And we’ve got drummer John Cowsill and our guitarist, Scott Totten. We’re kind of blending things together. I think, musically, it’s going to be incredible.”
A new album, titled Celebration, is due out later this year with at least one new single titled “That’s Why God Made the Radio” along with a few re-recordings.
The reunited Beach Boys were accompanied by Maroon 5 and Foster the People during the 2012 Grammy Awards performing a medley of three songs including “Good Vibrations”.
Special guests on the upcoming tour Foster The People were nominated for two Grammy’s and feature frontman/guitarist Mark Foster from Cleveland.
The Beach Boys 50th Annivesary Tour kicks off in Tucson, AZ on April 24th.
The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
