Want to know more about the Modified Dolls?
You’re in luck – I scored an exclusive interview with Jen Moss, a member of the Washington Chapter of the Modified Dolls since they started her in June. Read on to learn more about how your entrance fee to the show tonight will help out local families.
What exactly are the Modified Dolls, and what do they do?
“The Modified Dolls are a not for profit charitable organization built up of women that have body modifications. We are doing our best to break the stereotype of people with piercings and tattoos, or women with piercings and tattoos by doing massive amounts of charity work. Since we started this past summer we have raised over $7000 for several great organizations. We have a magazine that comes out once a month, and money from every purchase goes to our charity of the month. You can find our magazine on www.magcloud.com, just search “Modified Dolls”. We also have a website, www.modifieddolls.org. I’d love for you to take a little look, and check out our sponsers.”
What do the proceeds from the show go to support?
“All admission fees, as well as funds raised from a few raffles tonight, will go to Trailseekers of Yakima. Trailseekers is a YMCA organization that helps out troubled youth and their families in the Yakima County. And all proceeds raised from concessions and one raffle go to the Alzheimers Foundation. We are hoping for a good turn out to both, to enable us to make some really big donations!”
What other events do the dolls have coming up?
“Every second Thursday of the month we are the celebrity hosts and waitresses at the Speakeasy. We are planning an event in February for Planned Parenthood that will hopefully also benefit the SouthEast Community Center. We have ongoing auctions online to raise money for the current charities of the month. February is our Women Thrive and National AIDS awareness month. To participate in those and help out a charity visit our website and facebook page, www.facebook.com/themodifieddollsorg, to stay updated on new events.”
Fun Fact: Washington has the largest and strongest chapter in this organization. But we span across the country, in 33 states, and 7 countries. We are run on donations only. “We are the different making a difference.”
Why should people be excited about the show this weekend?
“We hope people will be excited to see our 12 artist line up, ranging from rock to hiphop. To help raise some awareness and funds to help out a local place in need. To open eyes to different venues, and different people. This is an opportunity to do a little to make a difference. Every little thing to make a difference might be small to a group or organization, but to one person you may have just changed a life.”
I hope to see some of you at this great show tonight – Support your local musicians, your local chapter of the Modified Dolls, and great local charities. Remember: Tonight at 5PM, local Yakima Eagles, $10 bucks gets you a great night of good times!
