The experts say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps you wake up and gets you ready for a full day of whatever it is you do every day. There are also many people who just like breakfast food, no matter the time of day. Here are my top 3 choices for breakfast in Montgomery.
There are two Shoney’s left in the River Region: one in Prattville and one in Wetumpka. I’ll be talking about the one that is in Prattville. My family and I have a new tradition of having breakfast every Sunday morning. Shoney’s is where we’ve gone most often and I have to say that their breakfast is really good. It’s buffet style and has everything you’d expect from a breakfast buffet, including chicken tenders. I have two objections to it though: the eggs aren’t done enough for me and the chicken tenders are too done. As for service, the waitresses are pretty friendly and definitely do their job. We’ve never had a problem with them.
Next one the list is the Cracker Barrel. When you first walk in the door, you’ll encounter the store. Have you seen those big billboards that say “half restaurant, half store?” Well they’re absolutely right. It has old fashion candies, novelty items, etc but what we’re most interested in here is the food. At the Cracker Barrel, they have mostly classic Southern fare, in lots of combinations. With the health craze going on, they’ve added low-carb and low-fat choices as well. The service here is also great, with friendly and attentive waitstaff.
This is another buffet style breakfast and, in my opinion, the better one. It has a larger selection of breakfast foods, including pork steaks, fried chicken and banana bread made into french toast. They have the salad and dessert items out during breakfast as well, for those that want them. The service is a hit and miss thing, meaning that sometimes we have great service and sometimes not, but most of the time it’s not all that bad.
Of course for the buffet, I’d have to go with the Golden Corral, because of the large selection of foods. Overall, I’d still pick them for the same reason. There are quite a few other places that have breakfast that I didn’t mention but these three really have the best out there. I’d suggest trying them and seeing what you think of them as well.
