There were several fashion hits and misses last night at the 84th annual Academy Awards. Overall, most stars managed to stay elegant and conservative for the big event. And of course, the popular white/nude dress trend seemed to float right on over from the Grammy’s. Still, who was the most chic, sexy, and daring in the style category? Here are my best-dressed awards for the Oscar’s red carpet.
Best in Couture: Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen. This dress wowed the crowd and was a nice change-up from everything else that was walking down the carpet. The gown made Jessica look romantic and high-fashion. Plus, her red locks and the golden hand-made design on the McQueen gown made her look like a queen.
Best in Color: Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli Couture. Not sure if Emma has ever looked this elegant before on the red carpet. The eye-popping red color turned heads while her bejeweled clutch and adorable smile were the perfect accessories.
Most Classic: Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab Couture. Is it just me or was Milla a modern Marilyn Monroe in this gown? She showed off her perfect curves with classic hair and makeup and an elegant one-shoulder trend.
Most Chic: Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture. Rooney played her cards right when she decided to step out in an on-trend white gown (which we’ve been seeing so much of lately). Naturally, she pulled it off effortlessly. Her fair skin, modern hair cut, and dramatic red lips were all the accessories she needed to make her look uber-chic.
Most Daring/Sexy: Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace. There is really no surprise in this category. Angelia rocked her waist-high slit better than Rihanna at the Grammys. Plus, the geometric lines of the gown kept her outfit classic and unique from most others.
Most Elegant: Lelsie Mann in Roberto Cavalli. Everything about Lelsie’s ensemble made her royal-ready for a ball. In addition, she was on point style-wise; with the sequins, navy blue, and that sleek up-do she seemed runway ready.
Overall Best Dressed: Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford. Although, many critics are giving Paltrow heat for this Ford cape, I’d have to disagree. The straight lines and interesting cape gave her a futuristic feel that left us wanting more. Plus, who else can look that good in a skin tight, white gown. Perfection.
