It’s a girl for pop sensation Beyonce and her husband Shawn Corey Carter (aka rapper Jay-Z). Blue Ivy Carter was delivered via C-Section at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York Saturday, Jan. 7.
According to the NY Daily News, Beyonce, looking for privacy during this important time, checked in under the assumed name of Ingrid Jackson.
It is also being reported the power couple rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for $1.3 million and hired security guards to patrol the hospital’s perimeter Saturday night.
In an attempt to thwart images from being leaked to the public, extreme measures were put into place including tape over security cameras and forcing employees to turn in cell phones when they arrived for their shifts, said one source.
Mother and daughter are doing well, another source has reported.
Only hours old, Blue Ivy is already causing a media storm over her proper name. E! News initially reported the birth name as Ivy Blue – “At least that’s what Jay-Z is telling pals at this point.” Apparently, Ivy Blue, when spelled backwards is Eulb Yvi… Which means “Lucifer’s Daughter” in Latin, TMZ reports.
Since then, it has been revealed her name is Blue Ivy and a thorough investigation as to its meaning has been underway. I don’t think we check out our presidential candidates with such thought and verve.
The Global Grind crunched some numbers and came up with the following:
Blue: The obvious; Jay-Z’s franchise albums have been called the Blueprint. It’s considered the coolest color of the spectrum. Ancient Egyptian used blue to represent the heavens. Blue also symbolizes the Virgin Mary. The color represents inspiration, sincerity and spirituality.
Ivy: Ivy contains the roman numeral IV as it’s first two letters, which we all know is the number 4. Beyonce has gone on record saying how important the number “4” is to her. She told Billboard Magazine, “We all have special numbers in our lives, and 4 is that for me. It’s the day I was born. My mother’s birthday, and a lot of my friends’ birthdays, are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date.”
Best wishes to the couple and baby girl are pouring in from the likes of best bud Gwyneth Paltrow who tweets, Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already;” Rihanna, “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih, and Kreayshawn who tweeted, “I love Ivy Blue cuzzz!!!!!!!”
Clearly Kreayshawn didn’t get the memo.
