There are many reasons to celebrate March with your family such as St. Patrick’s Day and the arrival of spring but while planning your family fun activities, don’t forget about these little-known March holidays. There are so many reasons to celebrate & have fun as a family!
National Craft Month: Get out your construction paper, markers, glue, stickers and sparkles and see what little masterpieces your children can create. You could also buy prepackaged DIY crafts at your local craft store.
National Kite Month: Now that the weather is starting to warm up, it’s a great time to get outside for some fun outdoor activities such as flying kites.
Dr. Seuss Day (March 2nd): Try some green eggs and ham for breakfast to celebrate this fun day. Enjoy some Dr. Seuss books with your kids today or have a Dr. Seuss movie night.
Daughters & Sons Day (March 4th): What a great day to let your children choose special family activities and meal plans. Make this a special day focused on celebrating your children. Share some baby photos with your kids or some home movies of when they were younger.
Cereal Day (March 7th): Cereal is delicious for any meal of the day. Let your children pick out a new cereal to try today or bake breakfast bars using a favorite cereal as a special ingredient.
Barbie Day (March 9th): Did you know that Barbie is now 53 years old? If only we could all age as gracefully as Barbie has! Celebrate Barbie’s special day all in pink: pink food, pink drinks, pink décor, pink table settings, etc. Have your children invite all their Barbie’s to the party.
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day (March 15th): For each of your children, make a list of all the reasons that make them so incredible and put this into a card for them. This will be a great keepsake!
National Chocolate Caramel Day (March 19th): What a terrific reason to celebrate with a delicious dessert like this Chocolate Caramel Skor Cake.
Alien Abduction Day (March 20th): Have some family fun today serving green foods (how about some green alien pancakes for breakfast?). If you were visited by some friendly aliens, what human earthling activities or traditions would you like to teach them about? You could buy a stuffed alien doll and place him somewhere in the house for your children to stumble across in the morning. Leave a note with him (written by him) talking about how he got here and what his mission is for this visit. Have fun hosting your alien friend for the day and teaching him all about life on earth!
Memory Day (March 21st): Have a fun family game night with memory types of games.
As Young As You Feel Day (March 22nd): What types of activities did you enjoy as a child? Were there games you used to play? Activities you used to enjoy? Have fun with your kids today playing games and teaching them activities you enjoyed as a child.
National Love Our Children Day (March 31st): A great day to put aside the chores and to-do lists and enjoy the day with your children doing fun activities. The night before this special day, make a list with your kids of all the fun things you could do. Then wake up early on the 31st and see how many of these fun activities you can do during the day. It’s like a marathon of fun!
