A mere jaunt west of the Pearl Street walking mall is Centro Latin Kitchen & Refreshment Palace, a little slice of modern Latin & South American culture. With food this tasty and drinks this strong, you’ll be doing the cha-cha in no time. In case you aren’t initially blown away by the head chef’s soulful creations, pop back in a couple months; the menu will be completely revamped. You’re promised to have a uniquely delicious dining experience each and every time you choose Centro.
One of the staples that Centro chefs swear by and customers can’t get enough of, are the Garlicky Grilled Shrimp Tacos. The garlic-glazed shrimp come wrapped in corn tortillas with a jalapeno cilantro aioli sauce and they’ll give your taste buds something to rejoice about for a measly 3 bucks during happy hour. Pair this signature dish with a Centro signature drink, a Cuba Libre – rum and coke with a generous twist of lime, for only $2. Happy Hour lasts all day Monday and from 3-5:30 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
For dinner, you can enjoy several different seafood ceviches, lobster nachos, carne asada, barbacoa spare ribs, burritos, and chile rellenos, to name a few. Don’t be fooled however, this isn’t your typical Mexican joint. Each and every dish is created with unique flavors and spices to give you a Latin food experience like you’re never had before.
We can’t talk about Centro without mentioning their scrumptious desserts and nightcaps. If you die over everything pumpkin, you must try their spiced pumpkin doughnuts. The doughy morsels are filled with the most delectable ginger cream and iced with an amazing molasses glaze, to die for. You also can’t go wrong with the classic Latin desserts, sopaipillas and tres leches made with passion fruit.
If you hadn’t shot enough tequila or sipped enough margs during dinner, you can end your evening with a variety of hot adult beverages. Highly recommended are the Hot Buttered Rum, Crema Café and the Lucky Clove. They’re bound to warm you right to the soul. Centro Latin Kitchen is located at 950 Pearl Street and opens weekdays at 11:30 am and 9:30 am on the weekends for Latin brunch. Enjoy!
