Looking for something great to do this week with the kids? Check out the Pittsburgh Children’s Theater production of “Charlotte’s Web” at several area venues.
Featuring a lovable cast of characters, “Charlotte’s Web” is the classic tale of friendship and miracles parents grew up reading and now our children can enjoy. The vibrant costumes and energetic cast will keep your little ones glued for the entire sixty minute show.
“Charlotte’s Web” is performed by a Theatreworks, USA which always delivers quality children’s shows. Staying true to the original book by E.B. White, the story features all our favorite characters – Wilbur, Charlotte, Fern, Zuckerman, and of course our favorite selfish rat, Templeton.
It’s a condensed version of the story, but still remains very accurate to the original written work. The simplistic scenery and quick changes allow for a fast-paced and effective flow of the overall production. It’s easy to follow and quick to take the audience straight to the barnyard with a clear picture of the events.
With my three-year-old happily bouncing in the seat next to me and glued for the entire production, the show gets five stars in my book for children’s theater. The show leaps from the pages of the book and directly into your heart.
“Charlotte’s Web” will be featured at Gateway High School on January 11, Carson Middle School on January 12, Moon Area High School on January 13, Upper St. Clair High School on January 14 and Senaca Valley Senior High School on January 15. Tickets are modestly priced at $9 in advance and $11 at the door and all seats are general admission on a first-come, first serve basis. I recommend arriving at least one hour before show time if you want good seats for any of the performances.
