In preparation for the March 31.2012 shop contest called the “Charmcity Shop Challenge” the Charmcity Skatepark in Baltimore Maryland is changing the layout of it’s course. “We updated the sections of the park that needed a freshening up! This contest is going to be awesome and I wanted the course to be a little different then what we have currently. Something new and exciting for the contest!” said Jason Chapman owner of the Charmcity Skatepark.
In addition to course changes the their has also been some additions to the list of “Charmcity Shop Challenge” sponsors. Currently the sponsors are CBC Insanity, Woodward Skate Camp, Gatorade, Real Skateboards, Spitfire Wheels, Green Trucks, Dopamine Skateboards, The 9:30 Night Club, 5Boro Skateboards, Osiris Shoes, Shorty’s, Fresh Class Skateboards, Traffic Skateboards, Just Live Clothing, Untitled Skateboards and Birdhouse Skateboards.
The judging for the event has also been nailed down. Event MC and One Skateboards owner AJ Kohn will be judging along side Baltimore native and VU Skateshop rider and UNTITLED Skateboards profressional Tom Geilfuss.
So save the date now March 31.2012 at the Charmcity Skatepark in Baltimore, Maryland. Practice and registration are from 10:00 AM to Noon and the contest will begin at 12:30 after a brief riders meeting. The shop entry fee is $150 per team which is a small price to pay with $5000 up for grabs. The best trick contest immediatley following the Charmcity Shop Challenge will cost $10 per person and will have a total of 10 winners all getting a $100 each! If you come to watch it’s free but if you bring your board normal admission applies. With the exception of the best trick portion the majority of the contest will be in the parks main room, which leaves much of the rest of the park skateable.

The Charmcity Skatepark
The Charmcity Skatepark was started in September 1995 by Baltimore skateboarder Jason Chapman. The Charmcity Skatepark has strived to build the Baltimore skate scene (literally) and support skateboarding through events, demos and contests and help bring top talent and events to Baltimore. The 20,000 plus square foot facility is one of the largest on the east coast. The park is located in the Canton Trade Center industrial park in the Canton area of Baltimore (a stones throw from the historic Fells Point waterfront area) Maryland. The Charmcity Skatepark Team
The Charmcity Skatepark team has consistently won the Best of Baltimore Contest Series and has won the Shop Contest at Academy Skatepark in Connecticut. They participate annually in 3rd Lair’s Top Shop contest. The Charmcity Skatepark team frequently does team demonstrations for major companies (ASA,AST,Bowie Baysox,The Maryland Science Center,Dew Tour,Six Flags,Camp Sunrise-CampForTheTerminallyIll),schools and other skateparks. Their work with the less fortunate has been recognized and awarded by Mayor Martin O Malley and Mayor Sheila Dixon. The team stays busy street skating,chillin at the park and constantly filming for various video projects. Due out for fall 2012 the team is working on their latest full length film called Videooooohhhhh!
