A deluge of rain didn’t stop over 400 women from attending the first annual Moth Ball at Space ub Warehouse Row (www.warehouserow.net) in downtown Chattanooga on January 26, 2012. It was a chance to drag out that old bridal gown, bridesmaid dress, prom dress, or any old party dress and support the Women’s Fund of Greater Chattanooga (www.chattanoogawomensfund.com). It was an event for women to benefit women.
Thirty five dollars bought a girl all the food and wine/beer she could eat and drink and a chance to party the night away. Lee Towery catering provided a bountiful table of hors d’oeuvres and The Chocolate Box staged a fantastic “moth ball” tree of confections of chocolate balls covered with white icing sticks. Soundface Entertainment provided the DJ and music from oldies and goodies to hip dance music.
Sara Foley Faces (www.sarafoleyfaces.com) took “dance pictures” and provided boas, oversized funky glasses and headgear for a chance to glam it up for the camera
The party attire ran the gamut from vintage 80’s bride and bridesmaids dresses to prom dresses to confection of tulle and sequined sheaths. One eye popping outfit was circa 1960’s lime green mohair suit reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy complete with elbow length gloves and square toe pumps.
Here are just some of the comments from attendees:
“Cannot wait to do this again!”
“Had a great time with all the girls, beautiful and funky dresses, great food and wine”
“Such a fun night. It was an honor to be a part of this event”
“Wow! I just don’t know when I’ve had so much fun!”
From all reports the evening was a smashing success and The Moth Ball will become an annual event on Chattanooga’s party scene.
