Rosie O’Donnell and Chelsea Handler recently teamed up – and their attempts to be funny turned into rudeness. Rosie, who recently succeeded in losing 16 pounds, was interviewing Chelsea (another recent slim-down success) on the OWN network.
“I’m a little ashamed about it,” Rosie said, but she has “a mild fear or anxiety around little people.” She then asked Chelsea on the show, which we’re betting Oprah Winfrey wishes was on a different network than her OWN: “Would you ever do a little person?”
Chelsea made a variety of remarks – none of which were “politically correct” with regard to people of short stature (“Little People”), including “I want to tackle them. I see them and I want to hold myself down.” She even said that Chuy is “so cute and that’s my ultimate body. If you’re going to have a little person, I want that shape, the corpulence.”
The Huffington Post reports that the “comments are a big issue for Little People of America, a support group for Americans of short stature due to dwarfism, and that the group “has taken the steps of sending separate open letters” to each un-funny lady.
