Enough of those Pure Michigan commercials, now it’s the Windy City’s turn.
The Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau has launched its a $1.8-million ad campaign to attract more visitors to the Windy City, particularly in the Winter months. The TV spots will run through March and in areas that are within a day’s drive away, like St. Louis, Milwaukee, Detroit, Cincinnatti, and Indianapolis, during prime-time network and cable TV shows.

Of the advertising, Mayor Rahm Emanuel had this to say:
“These are terrific advertisements for Chicago that will generate new revenues for the city and its businesses. Leisure visitors to Chicago provide immediate value for Chicago and we look forward to welcoming them to the greatest city in the world.”
The biggest surprise about these TV spots is just how long it took for Chicago to start selling itself as a travel destination on air.
