Chinese new year is celebrated in a huge scale in Houston and people from all communities participate. Its so colorful and special. When talking about Chinese new year, it is highly impossible to miss delicious Chinese food. Again , while enjoying the festival it is very important to keep in mind that one can stay healthy by making the right food choices.
Though baby corns are widely used in Chinese cuisine, but this recipie of steamed baby corns is a little different from the contemporary Chinese steamed baby corns. As the name suggests it is very healthy and equally tasteful and with no oil.l
1/2 lbs baby corns
1 tablespoon of garlic paste
1 cup of fat less milk
2 green chillies, descended and chopped
1 tablespoon of salt
1/4 tablespoon of brown sugar
1/4 tablespoon of freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar
1) Pressure cook all the ingredients together to give 1 whistle. Remove from heat.
2) After the pressure drops, open the cooker and dry out the water.
3) Sprinkle few drops of additional white wine vinegar.
4) If baby corns are not available in the market, cut regular corns into 2 inch pieces and pressure cook for to give 1 whistle and then keep on low heat for 6-7 minutes. Preferably choose the tender corns.
