The Millennium Harvest House tennis bubble was the site of two CU women’s tennis team home matches last weekend. The CU womens tennis team extended its winning streak to 4 in a row with its win against the University of Northern Colorado on Saturday, February 25, 2012. CU won the doubles point, sweeping all three matches. Scoring singles wins were sophomores Kristina Schleich, Winde Janssens, and Carla Manzi Tenorio as well as freshman Julyette Steur. CU won the match 5-2.
Unfortunately, CU’s streak ended when it faced the University of Denver on Sunday, February 26, 2012. CU lost 2-5. After losing all three doubles matches to lose the doubles point, DU won 4 of the 6 singles matches. The two winners for CU were Julyette Steur at #2 singles and Carla Manzi Tenorio at #5. Julyette came from being down a set to rally and win, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. Carla’s opponent retired after one set.
CU is now 5-3 and plays on the road this weekend. The Buffs face St. Louis on Saturday, March 3 and Nebraska on Sunday, March 4.
