Ok. Admit it. You love the name. And if you don’t, you’re no fun. Even their catch phrase is great: Come for the decadence. . . stay for the Debauchery! Debauchery is Melbourne’s latest and most welcome addition to the downtown Historic District nightlife scene. Everybody that lives in the area knows that Melbourne and Palm Bay are right next to each other and that they and several other small towns make up one — well, small town. The Historic District is well known for its legendary street parties and great drinks, but in the last several years it’s really come into its own, and this just makes for a greater variety of choices.
They recently had their grand opening in late December to an incredible turnout, and they’ve been going strong ever since offering up live music on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays and DJs midweek. MTV was there filming a segment of the documentary “A Slice of Life” this past Sunday, and on Thursday there was a pin up girl photo shoot featuring Misti Blu Day. They even dare you to bring it and throw down with your mad trivia skills on Monday nights for Monday Madness. They suggest you bring your A-game, though. It’s a bold statement, but it works. There’s a lot going on at this hip new bar.
Tonight Shak Nasti takes the stage at 9:30 p.m. tearing it up, and Thursday night on February 2 the KillBillies will be playing to what will almost certainly be a full house. It’s also currently one of the only two bars in the downtown area where you can play pool. If you haven’t been there yet, check it out. And if and when you do go in, be sure and ask the bartender to make you a Lime Mist. You’ll be glad you did.
