A few months ago, we received the board game Dicecapades as a family gift. Within the week we were playing the game and bringing it along to extended family activities.
- Recommended Ages: 12 and Up
- Number of Players: Two to Six
- Genre: Physical Challenges, Artistic Creation, Trivia Questions
- Contents: 133 dice, 100 cards and game board
The object of this game is to move your token around the board completing three different style of tasks. You will be tested on trivia, dice games and challenges, physical activities and artisitc creations. You may be asked to find who can stack dice of differing sizes on top of each other, roll the highest hand with the playing card dice, draw an action or object, name as many state capitals as the number you roll or memorize the picture dice.
The board is divided into three parts: Thinking, Action and Trivia. We loved both the Thinking and Action sections, but the Trivia section can be a bit tricky. Since we have children under 12, pairing them in teams with adults or older children helped with them complete the Trivia section without too many headaches.
Gameplay is a little long for younger kids, but we found the time to play was just about right. The Haywire Group has recently released a number of other Dicecapade games including a version for younger children (6+) and a Quick Play Edition that can be played in half the time.
Overall, my family and I really enjoy playing this game!
