Horror comedy is a very difficult genre to pull off. The two combined genres must balance each other perfectly to prevent being classified as just one of the two genres. Drag Me to Hell is the perfect example of a flawlessly executed horror comedy that contains the perfect balance of both humor and horror.
Loan officer Christine Brown must be able to make the tough decisions in order to earn the promotion that she plans to go after. But after evicting an elderly gypsy from her home she finds herself the receipient of a curse that will allow the lamia to claim her soul in three short days. With the help of two psychics and her professor boyfriend, Christine must find a way to rid herself of the curse, before her soul meets damnation.
Sam Raimi proves once again why he is the master of horror comedy. With wonderful performances, fantastic special effects, and intriguing plot, Drag Me to Hell is both the quinessential horror comedy film as well as the quintessential gypsy curse film.
