Have you stopped into a Columbus grocery store in the past few days? If so, you probably noticed the seasonal aisle and endcaps stocked with healthy foods.
Because many people make New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier and lose weight, grocery stores get into the program by offering sales on healthy foods. Now is the time to stock up on:
- Oatmeal. Oatmeal is a hearty breakfast, especially when you add some fruit and a tablespoon of nuts for protein. The high fiber content of oatmeal keeps you feeling full for hours.
- Yogurt. Choose a low-fat or fat-free variety and eat it as a healthy snack or top with fruit or granola for a quick and healthy meal on the go.
- Healthy products and brandlines, including Special K, Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice. These products work well for bringing your own lunch to work.
Of course, eating right is not the only part of losing weight. Exercise, at least 30 minutes a day, at least five days a week for adults, is ideal to maintain weight. More exercise may be needed in order to lose weight. Stop by one of the Metro Parks for a winter hike and burn off those holiday calories.
