This week on ABC’s The Bachelor 2012, Ben Flajnik and his ladies head to San Francisco. Monday night’s episode has already been teased as a big, explosive load of crazy, and fans could not wait to see what happened. First up Monday night (airing on channel 15 in Scottsdale) was Emily O’Brien’s one-on-one date with Ben Flajnik. Fans already love her, but will Ben love her too?
Emily O’Brien realizes from her date card that her date will involve heights, and she is quite worried as she is afraid of heights. However, she’s very excited to see the city with Ben. When they get together, Ben tells Emily that they are going to climb to the top of the Bay Bridge, and she admits that she is terrified of climbing. Ben says, “If Emily and I can climb to the top of the Bay Bridge together, there’s no telling how far we could take this relationship.” This experience is a huge challenge because not only is it high, it is climbing right above busy traffic and the organizers point out that it’s dangerous.
As they climb up the steep bridge, Emily starts to panic. As this happens, the ladies back at the hotel discover they can watch Ben and Emily via a telescope in their room. Ben does what he says was the only thing he could think of to ease Emily’s nerves, and that was to give her a kiss. They make it to the top, and it has definitely bonded this pair. As Ben points out, if they could climb that bridge, there is nothing else they can’t do.
Fans and alumni were certainly buzzing over Emily O’ Brien and Ben Flajnik’s date. Fan favorite Jackie Gordon, from Brad Womack’s season, tweeted, “Ugh poor Emily! And I thought waterfall repelling was bad, yikes! #bachelor.” Emily and Ben head to dinner, where Emily admits that she has been a little caught off-guard by how much she likes Ben. They talk about his proposal to Ashley Hebert, and Emily shares her crazy dating stories. Fans already know from her ABC profile that she tried out match.com, where she was matched with her brother. The Bachelor producer Robert Mills joked via Twitter, “Emily tells her online dating story. Angelina Jolie nods knowingly. #Bachelor.” Ha. The two continue to bond over dinner, and find they have a lot of similarities.
Emily says that her two biggest fears are heights and rejection, so thinking about getting that date rose makes her a bit anxious. Ben says he’d like to take care of the elephant in the room, and offers her the rose. He says he likes where things are going, and he likes that she’s “quick, witty, and you just get it, and that’s what I look for in a woman.” He even sees the dynamic between them as something that resembles the dynamic between his parents, and Emily accepts the rose. These two really are quite adorable together, and fans who became fans of Emily pre-premiere are doing a happy dance right now.
The night for Ben and Emily ends with fireworks, and the ladies watching from the hotel are jealous as all get-out. Luckily, Emily O’Brien fans have more to look forward to next week. Robert Mills teased, “I see we have a lot of new Emily fans. I’ll say this – she makes a bold move next week #Bachelor #ShatInYourHat #YouWillUnderstandNextMon.” Shoot, fans do not want to have to ponder that for a week!
