Falling Skies season 2 will be hitting TNT in June 2012, and that same month, fans can pick up their own copies of season 1 on DVD and Blu-ray. Both sets will have special features, and the Blu-ray will have even more to offer.
According to the press release, the three-disc DVD and two-disc Blu-ray will be released on June 5. The special features include a season 2 sneak peek, a feature about “Animating a Skitter,” commentaries, and more. The Blu-ray exclusive is the feature, “Falling Skies from Pencils to Print: The Comic Book Revealed” with a collectible trading card. The cover of the sets shows Ben harnessed and the alien structure in the background, an image that is well-known to fans of the series.
Falling Skies‘ first season took a look at what the world was like six months after aliens invaded and a resistance, the 2nd Mass, rose up to fight to take back their city. With the first season set, fans can relive those 10 episodes, from the resistance breaking up into smaller groups and the search for Ben, to Ben being unharnessed, the introduction of a new alien (the overlords), and the shocking final scene of Tom going with the aliens.
Though TNT has been pretty good about re-airing the episodes, this will give fans a chance to rewatch their favorite moments and new viewers the chance to catch up before the second season airs in the summer. It’s an action-packed, family drama filled show that you don’t want to miss and worth adding to your DVD collection.
