An average of 640,000 people die annually due to heart trouble. Why treat yourself so poorly?
Is it really worth having that large bowl of ice cream every night after dinner? No!
So here is the breakdown.
Ice Cream is one of the worst offenders for heart health. It is high in fat and cholesterol and often packs a bit extra when you look at fat and sugar content. The dessert has a huge calorie count and is not going to be better because you choose a low fat artificially sweetened carton instead.
Golfers, you can be the point of change. Golf is a fantastic stress reliever and a source of very good low impact excercise. South Carolinians suffer at troubling rates of heart disease so we Carolinians have a lot to change. And its not just ice cream and fried food.
We have to watch out for sodium/salt, carbonated drinks like sodas, and a big one: the smoking.
If you can’t live without all of these habits it would still make a huge difference to stop partaking in a couple.
If you were to stop drinking soda altogether you would be amazed how much better you will feel. It won’t happen all at once. But you will play a better round with more energy and much more consistancy.
Stress is always a factor in what we choose to eat or how we live. And golf is a fantastic source of relief. When paired with dietary change a little exercise is really all many of us need to begin turning our heart health around.
If you keep your stress down you will not retain water weight as much and you won’t tell your body to store fat unnecassarily. You can be your own best friend here. Smoking is being linked to more disease concerns than can be counted but lets be realistic. If you enjoy golf at all, you aren’t one of those people who hates being outdoors.
So there really isn’t much stopping you is there?
Ok, money is a little bit in the way. Golf isn’t always the cheapest hobby to find yourself in.
But in South Carolina there are more courses than jobs. So there really isn’t any reason to make the excuse. There are courses that charge as few as $3 and as much as $300 per round. So why prevent yourself the joy of the greatest game for stress relief. Look around. There are choices galore.
Don’t let yourself be another statistic. Find alternatives to bad dietary items like fried food, fast food, soda, and carbonated cocktails. You can do it. Be proactive.
Which brings me to another point.
New research has led to some troubling news. Antibiotics are linked to obesity and heart troubles. Many of us will have 100’s of doses of the otherwise life saving drugs and each dose destroys more and more of the healthy bacteria in your digestive system. Taking probiotics can be a great way to counter this.
Tis the season for lots of sick people. So keep this in mind. If you cut out two of your worst habits beginning this month and you add probiotics, you will really notice changes in how you feel and how you react to stressful events.
Not only will this affect your day to day life but it will definately make you sleep better. I don’t need to say much more than this. If you get better sleep, your health will always be better than it would if you barely get 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night.
Not only will you get more useful and rejuvinating rest but your mind will be sharper. And maybe, just maybe you will make better decisions on the course.
Don’t take my words for it. I have been living this for over a year. It is making a slow but definate change in may life.
I cut out soda, stopped eating so much carbs like potatoes, bread, and rice, and I don’t eat mayo etc or ice cream anymore. I lost 8 pounds pretty quickly with only those changes.
But more importantly my digestive system thanks me every day. Things had gotten out of control and I needed major improvements in order to get on with my life.
Probiotics have really given me some steady results in the last couple of months. I realize this is asking you to spend an additional $15-20 a month. But it helps so much.
For further reading on this. There are some really good articles on Web Md.com that illlustrate where the science has demonstrated the health gains. Also see www.Heart.org for solid information.
But lets make a difference. Carolinians can finally stop being stereo typed as unhealthy heart attack suffering fatties. Golfers let us make some positive change in 2012. You will only have the rest of your lives to be thankful that you did.
