Now you can prepare and file your tax return with an H & R Block tax professional from anywhere in real time via live face to face video conference, phone, or chat at a time that is convenient for you.
Start by going to the Block Website: www.hrblock.com. Select “File With Block Live”. Next, select “Start Now”, which takes you to the Block Live page.
Here’s how it works:
1. Connect With a Tax Professional
Choose your tax professional by scheduling an appointment or you may get started now.
Chose your communication vehicle:
Communicate via video conference, phone, or chat.
2. Share Your Tax Documents
Make your tax files available to the preparer by attaching files or pictures.
You can send them via smartphone app or as file attachments.
The fax option will be available in the near future.
3. Let Us Do The Work
When you use a Block professional, you will receive a thorough tax interview. You are advised of all your deductions and credits.
You pay only when you’re satisfied.
The information that you provide to Block is secure.
After you choose to utilize the service, you will be asked to enter your zip code and to check the box indicating whether you earned income in more than one state.
You are then asked to whether you have any specialty areas such as military, small business, and the like. Check the boxes that apply to you or you may choose “continue”.
You will then be presented with tax preparers that are online right now. These preparers may be anywhere in the country. Alternately, you can choose to make an appointment with someone in your area.
Once you choose your preparer, the next message you will get is:
Choose how you want to communicate with your tax professional from the following:
Video: Meet with your tax professional via secure video conference.
(microphone required, webcam optional)
For the best video experience, you will need a reliable, high-speed internet connection.
You can use “settings” to test your connection. If your connection does not work, you can connect via phone.
In order to use this service, type your phone number where provided and let the professional call you.
The default is the “tax chat feature” that I used to communicate with the professional.
There are two additional tabs, “connect” and “tax documents”. The Tax documents tab will show “2011 Tax Documents”
You have the option of talking with your tax professional first or you can attach your documents before you meet.
You can load via smartphone, or if the files are already stored in your computer, you can click the box to allow you to upload them to the preparer.
