After a disappointing season, FIU decided to part ways with program legend Munga Eketebi last week. This week the athletic program’s search committee was gathered in an effort to find a replacement for Eketebi.
Eketebi went 22-5-45 (WDL) during the four seasons he was head coach after taking over for Karl Kremser back in 2007 after the program was hit with NCAA sanctions.
This past season was the best for Eketebi as his team went 7-10, but missed out on a spot in post-season play.
There are no specific names that have been mentioned; but it would not be one bit surprising if several former players that are currently involved in coaching roles throughout MLS, NASL, and USL would definitely be considered at one point or another.
