Everyone from parents, children, teens and the elderly need energy to get them through the day, boost their immune system and add healthy nutrients into their systems. Today there are so many easy foods that aren’t power fruits and vegetables that many choose to include in their diets. Foods that are frozen, canned and boxed don’t provide the same vitamins, minerals and nutrients that fresh or organic foods provide.
Our bodies are similar to furnaces. The better the fuel the more efficient we run. Food is burned in our systems through digestion. Everything we consume changes our pH levels depending upon what we choose. Some foods are alkaline and others are acidic in nature.
Normal blood pH levels should be 7.0. A pH level below 7.0 is considered acidic and a pH level over 7.0 is classified as alkaline.
Some foods that are alkaline consist of many fruits, beans, lentils, green vegetables, seeds, nuts, herbs, spices and seasonings. Too much of these foods can increase anxiety, hyperventilation, vomiting, muscle twitching, irritability and muscle cramps. They can also decrease water weight gain and fatigue. Alkaline foods have a higher level of antioxidants; can cleanse the colon, kidneys and liver while boosting your immune system.
Foods that are acidic in nature are but not limited to grains, poultry, cheese, pizza, milk, breads, eggs, meat, fish and legumes. Too much of these foods have a tendency to cause weight gain, clog you colon, can create excess mucus in your body which can lead to more viruses and bacteria. Acidic foods can cause water weight gain, fatigue, nausea, drowsiness, vomiting, oxygen deprivation and confusion.
Both food groups can cause some symptoms and complications in our bodies. That is why it is so important to eat a balanced diet and avoid eating foods solely from one or the other group. Doing so will improve your blood profile, cholesterol levels and immune system.
A healthy system which combines both alkaline and acidic foods ranging from 60/40 to 80/20 each time a meal is prepared a safe pH level will be achieved. Your diet will be balanced providing you with the necessary nutrients and vitamins for a healthy system.
Eating more fruits and vegetables that are alkaline and less of those that are acidic is the perfect balance. Our bodies will have more energy, be able to process toxins and eliminate them from our systems and make it easier to shed excess water weight and fat. Hair and skin will be healthier and have a more natural glow, you will feel better and have more energy. The acid/alkaline food chart defines healthy foods, unhealthy foods, foods that should be eaten in moderation and the pH levels associated with each food type and group.
Most common alkaline greens that we should eat more of to boost energy are:
- Brussels sprouts
- French cut green beans
- Lima beans
- Savoy cabbage
