Under the leadership of Sifu Justin Meehan of St. Louis, MO and Sifu Ray Hildreth of Tulsa, OK, the 1st Gateway Chinese Martial Arts Championships will be a major martial arts tournament in two years for the Greater St. Louis area and Midwest region since 2010 National Kung Fu Championshipshosted by American Athlete Union (AAU) in August 2010. Therefore, the area martial arts practitioners are very excited about this coming Championships on March 23 – 24, 2012.
Gateway Chinese Martial Arts Championships is sanctioned by International Chinese Martial Arts Champions (ICMAC) Worldwide Circuit. It has a full-fledged program including Master Demo, Workshops, Lion Dance and multiple competition divisions. Traditional Kung Fu, Tai Chi (Yang, Chen, Hun-Yuan, and others), Modern Wushu, Group competition, Continuous Sparring and Push Hands are the major competition categories.
Sifu Ray Hildreth is a Purple Heart honoree and received Silver Star Medal for Gallentry in Combat. His heroic Vietnam War exploits are chronicled in the book Hill 448 (Simon & Schuster). He is a Master of Southern style Hung Gar and Choi Li Fut under world famous Grandmaster Bucksam Kong and deserving of much respect. Sifu Justin Meehan considers him a great man and a true pioneer and avatar of the rich Southern school of Chinese Martial Arts.
Sifu Justin Meehan is a well-respected Tai Chi pioneer not only in the Greater St. Louis area but also in the U.S. He has authored many important articles to promote Tai Chi and Qigong. He has served as a judge for many national and international Tai Chi competitions. He is also a lineage holder of Chen Style Hun Yuan Tai Chi under Master Zhang Xue Xing.
This coming tournament will be held at North County Recreation Complex (2577 Redman Road, St. Louis, MO 63136), which has a large stadium and can accommodate at least eight competition events. Due to the large amount of competition events, the competition will start at 10 a.m. cst. Sifu Justin Meehan invites area instructors to part-take in the judging. A judge workshop will be held prior to competition.

- 4 – 8 p.m.: Registration for competition, seminars, and workshops
- 4 – 8 p.m.: Seminars and workshops
- 8 p.m.: Mandatory Officials’ meeting and training session
Saturday March 24:
- 8 – 9:30 a.m.: Registration
- 9:30 a.m.: Opening Ceremony
- 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Competition
- 7:30 p.m.: Master Showcase
