When “Glee” aired an episode on Tuesday night that featured a character (in Max Adler’s Karofsky) who attempted to take his own life, they ended up bringing even more attention to an important cause in preventing suicide prevention. The show aired a spot for The Trevor Project during the broadcast, and this ended up bringing all sorts of attention to the organization, which works to help struggling GLBT youth.
Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, organization co-founder Peggy Rajski explained not only how much the organization was able to help thanks to this episode, but also how they made the necessarily preparations:
“What was great about the show is that they worked in conjunction with us so we knew in advance that there was going to in all likelihood be an increase in volume … What happened was the volume went up about 300 percent but we were ready.”
There are a number of members of the “Glee” cast who are avid supporters of the organization, including Adler as well as Darren Criss.
