The stars were out for the 84th annual Academy Awards last night and the celebrities wowed with more hits than misses on Oscar’s red carpet. With stunning hairstyles to choose from, the list was narrowed down and the picks that follow showcase the best and worst of the evening.
Tina Fey took a classic up-do and made it modern earning her kudos for the best hairstyle from the Oscar’s. With increased volume, this is not an easy style to pull off, especially for petite frames and smaller sized heads. The 30 Rock star’s hairstyle is simple to recreate through attaching a natural hairpiece to pinned back hair. Although, strapless gowns look best with the hair down, Tina Fey brought back an elegant look akin to Audrey Hepburn.
Stacy Keibler dwarfed her significant other George Clooney who was up for the Best Actor award in stature and style. Keibler was Clooney’s arm candy in a dazzling, strapless gold gown and sexy screen siren hair. The side swept hairstyle has been popular on red carpets of late; however, Stacy Keibler took it to Hollywood gold with her Veronica Lake look.
Sandra Bullock made a simple high ponytail elegant and chic and is easy enough for anyone to replicate without running to a salon, although her celebrity hairstylist, David Babaii wouldn’t be happy to hear that.
Bottom of the hit list scoring a top miss for worst red carpet hairstyle of the 84th Academy Awards was Cameron Diaz and her asymmetrical mess. Asymmetrical haircuts are difficult to pull off on straight, blonde hair as any imperfection is noticeable, especially to a trained eye, and Diaz’s bob showed every mishap. The hairstyle is a nice change from the boring bob, but it needs to be a precision cut. The style was just blah for her striking gown; perhaps adding slight waves would have hidden the flaws and glammed it up for the Oscar’s.
