Café Latte Rhapsody is a yaoi manga by Toko Kawai. Keito is a kind hearted university student who is shy and awkward around people. It doesn’t help that his intense aura and harsh looks tend to give people the wrong impression and scare them off. He meets a slightly older bookstore employee named Serizawa, who falls in love with Keito at first sight. Can Serizawa discover what’s holding Kaito back so that the later can overcome his shyness and show his true feelings?
It’s a decent story with a couple who are genuinely affectionate toward each other. The artwork is okay, through the author is very good at drawing casts and making them even cuter in manga form. The most memorable part of the story is when one of the main characters describes what a Latte looks like to him. The metaphor is quite lovely, poetic and invokes the image of a swirling galaxy in all of its glory. Hopefully, the author will develop this poetic skill in future stories. Honolulu fans will find this to be a good read on a rainy day.
