Wild @ Heart is a romantic comedy by Natsumi Ando. Chino is a young girl who’s looking for the man of her dreams. However, she doesn’t expect a guy like Hino, who grew up in the wilderness. He rescues Chino’s dad and becomes infatuated with her after seeing a photo of her. Wacky hijinxs abound as Hino gets accustomed to her unorthodox suitor. Things get complicated when his family comes to claim him. How will their relationship turn out in the end?
Readers expecting a realistic depiction of a young man being raised in the wilderness should look elsewhere. Everyone else will find this to be a decent, enjoyable story with clean, energetic artwork. The story fits in three volumes since the author is writing a romantic comedy instead of a Tarzan style adventure. Still, the story does set up for a plausible sequel which would focus on the issues and hijinxs of their stable, long term relationship. Hino, despite his eccentric nature, is at least a nice guy, so readers can feel comfortable rooting for him and Chino. Honolulu shoujo manga readers looking for a light, fun read should check it out.
