Doll her up this Easter with her very own tutu basket. This basket is perfect for finding eggs in style and for capturing memries on film. Take her to one of these fun Indianapolis area Easter egg hunts to fill her basket to the brim with goodies.
Supplies needed: 1/2 yard of tulle in each color, a basket of your choosing, spray paint, 20″ of ribbon, enough elastic to go around the brim of the basket or a crocheted headband, and flower petals.
Directions: Spray paint basket if desired, stitch elastic ends together, cut tulle in 4″x 12″ pieces and 3″x 8″ pieces for layered basket skirt.
When using the elastic band: fold tulle piece in half long ways and then fold again from end to end. Wrap the strip around the elastic keeping a loop hole open. Bring the tail through the loop hole and pull firmly to secure knot. Repeat this step until the entire elastic band is covered in tulle strip knots.
When using the crocheted headband: take a longer piece of tulle, fold it in half long ways, and then fold again from end to end. Push the tulle strip through one of the holes in the headband leaving a loop on the other end. Draw the tail of the tulle piece through an adjoining hole and pull firmly to make a knot. Repeat steps until bottom of headband is filled. Next, take the shorter tulle strips, and repeat the same steps as above, until the top of the headband is covered. Now you have a layered skirt for your basket.
Slip the skirt over the basket, add a bow, and glue on some flower petals if desired. Your basket is ready to be filled with everything colorful.
Use this basket on her dresser for hair bows, ribbons, and barrettes after visiting the Easter bunny for year round usage.
