While New York’s Fashion Week has ended and regular life has returned for most of us, James Vincent is still as busy as he was a few days ago. Staying busy is the only way to be for this Providence, RI born makeup artist. He now calls the City of Angels home. He has been to Berlin’s Fashion Week, London, and Miami, but says New York City’s Fashion Week is his favorite of all the cities. Vincent was backstage painting the faces of the models at the W Hotel presents Suzzane Rae and an assistant makeup arstist at Marc Jacobs Fall 2012. After a week full of shows, we caught him after finishing a photo shoot (when does he sleep?), James Vincent gave us a few minutes of his time to answer a few questions.
Tania Greene: What was your favorite Fashion Week show?
James Vincent: I thought a lot of the shows were great, but I really loved at the Suzzane Rae show the poetic and romantic vibe. It was beautiful and strong. The makeup I used was Kevyn Aucion. I gave the models a burgundy smoky eye. At the Green Show, the looks felt elevated. It was a hippie look with a lot of neutrals.
TG: What do you like about NYFW?
JV: Out of all of the fashion week cities NYC is my favorite. New York is more about being wearable and real.
TG: Which runway makeup look could be easy enough for the everyday girl?
JV: Every girl can do the matte red lip. It is an easy, simple look, that adds quick glam. If your skin is a cool color, go for reds with blue undertones and if you have warm skin your red lipstick should have an orange base to it. This will give your face a pop and even make your teeth look whiter.
James Vincent will be at The Makeup Show in May. For more information click here.
