Jennifer Aniston, who gushes that she feels younger than her age, works out 5-6 days a week and doesn’t slack off even when she’s on the road.
“I do 40 minutes of cardio: spinning, running, the elliptical, or a combination of all three,” said Aniston. “Then I do Pilates one day a week, and I do yoga in addition to that, three days a week. I try to mix it up.”
Jennifer, who lost 30 pounds during her twenties at the suggestion of her manager, doesn’t let her hectic travel schedule derail her exercise plans.
I take eight-pound weights with me whenever I’m staying in a hotel. It’s always good to do arm exercises when you’re watching television or talking on the phone.
I also love to stretch before I go to bed, and usually throw in a couple of sit-ups.”
Jennifer, who says she recently kicked a longtime smoking habit, also follows a low-carb diet, but doesn’t deprive herself. Low-carb diets such as the ketogenic, Paleo and Atkins diets fuel rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.
Aniston, a rep for Aveeno skincare products, said her beauty secrets include daily cleansing, moisturizer and sunscreen. “My post-workout beauty ritual is wiping my skin,” she said. “I always use Aveeno Ultra Calming Wipes.”
Jennifer has been doing yoga for 20 years, saying the meditative practice tones her body and calms her mind. “If yoga didn’t exist, I’d invent it,” said Aniston.
Aniston does yoga three days a week with her longtime friend and yoga teacher, Mandy Ingber. Mandy told me she and Jennifer combine cardio and toning exercises into their workouts.
“We incorporate cardio and toners into the yoga sessions, much like I do in my Yogalosophy DVD,” said Ingber. “We meet up about three times a week, and our sessions are 60 to 90 minutes.”
When asked what her weirdest beauty regimen was, Aniston laughs. “The closest I’ll ever go is a Derma roller,” she said. “Google it — it’s great. It’s like a little wheel that has little pins, like acupuncture needles in a way, and you roll it and it stimulates your collagen and it also allows for your products to seep into your skin.”
Thanks to her lifetime dedication to health and fitness, Jennifer looks and feels incredible, and doesn’t dread getting older. “I really try not to focus on it too much,” said Aniston. “Society focuses on it way more than we need to.”
