American Restaurant, 801 Chophouse, Michael Smith, and Rye.
All four of these Kansas City restaurants have been the recipient of both local and national acclaim from Zagat, The James Beard Foundation and Saveur magazine.
If you’ve never visited any of these great restaurants, this week would be an excellent time to dine. The 5th Annual Kansas City Restaurant Week began on January 17th, 2014 and will continue through to January 26th, 2014. Over 100 restaurants are participating in this year’s event. Last year, $175,000 was raised. The goal this year is half a million.
Each year, restaurant owners come together for the cause. Artistic and creative chefs and owners create menus for lunch and dinner, priced at $15 and $33, respectively. And for 10 days, anytime someone orders from these menus, 10% of the sale goes to three local charities: Harvesters — The Community Food Network, the KC Regional Destination Development Foundation and the Greater KC Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. What an excellent opportunity to help our economy! Diners can find great values on fabulous meals, restaurant owners and chefs gain new customers, and a portion of the money goes to charity.
