The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) is seeking letters of interest and resumes from persons interested in filling several vacancies on the BPU Ethics Commission.
The purpose of the Ethics Commission is to insure proper implementation of BPU’s Ethics Policy and act as the policy-setting body for ethics issues at the utility. The commission meets to deliberate ethical issues and renders advisory opinions concerning questions of ethics, conflicts of interest, and the applicability of BPU’s Ethics Policy.
The commission is comprised of five members. The BPU Board of Directors desires that the Ethics Commission represent the diverse population of the community. Representation is desired from the areas of labor, education, business, law and the general public.
The commission must fill three vacancies representing the education, labor and legal sectors. These positions are voluntary and would require periodic meetings in the evenings to discuss ethics issues brought before the group.
Applicants must live in Wyandotte County. They must be of good moral standing and cannot have been convicted of a felony or serious crimes. All commission members must comply with BPU Ethics Policy.
The deadline for submitting letters of interest and resumes is February 24, 2012.
A search committee consisting of Chris May, Robert Runnebaum and Paul Soptic will review the applications; the full BPU Board will make the appointments.
The three vacancies the commission must fill represent education, labor and legal.
