It was a great day for Canada in the World Cup moguls competitions at Calgary’s Canada Olympic Park.
Mikael Kingsbury of Ste-agathe-des-montes, Quebec won the men’s competition. It was his fifth victory of his career and third of the 2011-12 World Cup season, as he already won in Ruka, Finland and Lake Placid, New York this year. Jeremy Cota of the United States won the Silver medal and Sho Kashima of the United States won Bronze.
The race did not have fan favourite and Olympic Gold medallist Alexandre Bilodeau participating. Bilodeau has decided to only participate in certain events this season so he can prepare on the technical element of his skiing more.
On the women’s side, Justine Dufour-Lapointe won the Silver medal. It was Dufour-Lapointe’s second career World Cup medal as she won Silver earlier this month in Lake Placid.
Hannah Kearney, the Olympic Gold medallist from the United States won Gold and K.C. Oakley of the United States won Bronze.
