Unifying the paranormal community has become a hot topic in recent months, catching fire with the very mention of the word. Critics abound, a vast majority of the field is true to the principals of unity.
The paranormal community has evolved and grown drastically from the pre-Ghost Hunters/reality TV days. There are literally thousands of investigative groups, with more coming onboard every minute on any given day. Searching for their place in this world, sparring and “competing” with each other is common place, losing track of the real reasons they are here in the first place. Some folks have grown absolutely tired of the bickering and have tried unifying the field, to share ideas and thought processes and cases. While the ultimate goal is always in the constant distance, there has been some measures of success.
Groups ARE starting to come together more than ever. Founders, members, and supporters of the groups are becoming friends and colleagues. Cases are being shared, with joint cases opening up more often. Only good will come from this and ultimately, the client(s), the locations investigated, and the general public will benefit tremendously from it. Best of all, the field will become all the more stronger. So, why is it so easy to talk about and no one can seem to fully get it done?
Problem is, there are a lot of groups, not all, but a good amount of them that want to keep the information and locations to themselves, thinking they will obtain fame and fortune with them. Fame and fortune? If you are in this field for fame and fortune, you are barking up the wrong tree. People and groups researching the history and claims of activity are (or should be) doing it to help the client(s) understand what is afflicting them and help them to better handle it. Rushing in guns a blaze to gather “evidence” for their portfolio or to get their own show is only going to make the problems worse and frankly, make the field look like we are using people for our own benefit.
Unity is not about making ones’ views and thoughts or investigative techniques as the definitive method. Unity is about sharing all of that with each other. Expertise is never going to happen. Everybody is constantly learning from each other and should be taking notes of each person they work with. Satisfaction is granted when the client(s) are happy and feel better educated and safe, not when you seek that big paycheck or notoriety.
This article goes as a calling out to all of the paranormal groups out there; not just here in the USA, but all over the world. Share those thoughts! Share those ideas! Share your investigative techniques! Share anything you feel is valuable, no matter how big or small the information is. Don’t be afraid to do so or face ridicule! We, as a paranormal community, need to be a unified front to succeed at the highest level. As one, WE are the experts. Not just one of us…all of us!
