Are you on a routine uninspired track through life (R.U.T.) and desire a change? Or maybe life is good, but you want to improve on it, so you make a few New Year’s resolutions, but do you always stick with them? Studies show that most New Year’s resolutions never sustain due to lack of motivation and focus. What’s a better way to motivate yourself then to take a trip! Even making a resolution to travel is a good resolution. A resolution doesn’t have to be about giving something up, it can be about adding something more to your life.
A perfect resolution or motivator for other resolutions is to take a trip, somewhere, anywhere, even if it’s just for the day.
Taking a trip can be useful for spending time with your family or even alone. Trips also give you time to relax, reflect and inspire new goals. Trips are great educational tools; you usually learn, see, or try something new when you are on a trip.
Taking a trip will, if anything else, add some sparkle to your daily life and it does not have to break the bank.
If you have limited funds and time, you can look close to home. The best place to start is the Chamber of Commerce of any city you are interested in visiting. Or make an internet search on something you are interested in seeing or doing combined with a location that works for you. For example; if you are interested in cooking, sailing, art, zip-lining or Native American history, you can search that topic + the location you want. Most likely, you will find that someplace nearby will have a museum or event on Native American history, a museum with a traveling art exhibit you thought you would have to go to New York to see, or even if you can’t get to Costa Rica, you can still try zip-lining nearby. If you have always wanted to take a cooking or wine class in a French château but never have been able to swing it, there are beautiful Inns and hotels all over the United States that have wine and cooking classes incorporated into their programs. Look up a hotel or B&B in your own city or state and you might find a package that includes special tours, or classes for great prices.
Also, keep in mind that there are many web-sites that specialize in finding travel bargains and last minute getaways with price tags that can equal the same costs as a few nice dinners out on the town.
A great way to keep abreast of travel specials is to sign up on travel sites and their Facebook pages. These sites offer travel discounts for all major companies and search multiple web-sites for you. They will email you notifications about specials that you may not see elsewhere. For example; A Royal Caribbean 4 day Bahamas, all inclusive cruise, is being offered as low as $149 per person; a 7 night Mediterranean cruise as low as $509 and Colorado ski vacations with air, hotel and lifts as low as $293.
