It is Mardi Gras time already! We can not all make it to Nawlins(a.k.a. New Orleans) this year, so we will create our own party in our Texan backyard. Mardi Gras Texas Style is the name of the party, and this year marks the 11th annual celebration.
There will be 28 bands, 5 stages and 1 day to participate in the biggest party in Dallas, February 18th. All bands featured are the top music in the Dallas scene. The featured opener this year is the very talented Eli Young Band. This Denton based band ranked the #1 position in the nation in 2011, for their now platinum single “Crazy Girl”.
10,000 fans will gather in true Mardi Gras style in the spacious 90,000 square foot Clear Span Building. This makes for a perfect party come rain or shine.
There will be many great choices of fair style food to choose from, and of course the notorious Cajun style food booth, serving all the Louisiana favorites. Food prices will range from $4.00 – $10.00 per item.
This event is an all ages affair, however it is recommended for ages 17 and up. It is after all a Mardi Gras styled event and Mardi Gras styled activities will occur. There are no discounts on ticket prices for children, everyone must have a ticket, including infants. The ticket price is $40.00 at the door. The box office will open one hour before doors open, and close 30 minutes after the last band is onstage. You can also order your tickets online for $32.50(+service and processing fess =$36.72) and at Kroger locations for $33.50.
If you are 21 or older and would like to celebrate with hard “spirits”, for an additional $10.00 you can purchase your “grownup” drink wrist band online(at the door it is $15.00). This will allow you access to the Pavilion where the bars are serving Rum and Coke, Whiskey and Coke, Vodka and Sprite, and etc. Also, there is a patio there where you can sit and sip while watching all the activities. You may even be lucky enough to hear any of the Mardi Gras Texas Style artists sit for an interview or play an acoustic song or two. Another benefit of the Pavilion is access to the private restrooms.

You don’t want to miss the fun and wonderful opportunity to hear some of the best music from the heart of Texas. I had tons of fun at the Nawlins Mardi Gras a couple of years ago. This sounds like the next best thing to being there – only better, no extra fees for lodging, fuel, and etc. I hope to see you there!
Before entering into the building, there is a search for all guests and their belongings. To aid in moving the line quickly, leave any large bags behind. For a detailed list of what is allowed vs. not allowed in the building, please visit the website.
