Marilyn Monroe has been getting a lot of buzz this year, from Michelle Williams playing the late classic actress in the film, “My Week with Marilyn” and now to the Cannes Festival, where she has been chosen to be the subject for the 65th Cannes Film Festival poster.

Why did they pick her? The organizers said in a statement, that “50 years after her death, Marilyn remains one of the major figures of world cinema, an eternal and contemporary reference of grace, mystery and seduction.”
Which that statement is quite true, she was in a Dior commercial this year, whenever you go into stores you do see posters to buy of her, calendars, films, even shirts with her on them and of course the film about her and Laurence Oliver that came out this year. The world is Marilyn Monroe crazy!
While I don’t think she was as great as like for example Bette Davis as an actress, she has done some good roles especially in the film The Misfits. I’m glad as a classic film fan to see that a star from 50s and 60s gets a lot of attention in the 21st Century.
So congrats to Marilyn to still be captivating audiences even after many years after her death. If she was alive now I’d say she would be very modest about all the attention.
