Mitt Romney has openly accepted responsibility for his reported drop in the polls, in his home state of Michigan. Romney is attributing his sudden drop in popularity to remarks he made that drew attention to his wealth.
Romney is blaming his declaration that his wife owned 2 Cadillacs, and his stating that he was good friends with NASCAR team owners. Romney has admitted that he made “some mistakes” that have hurt his campaign. Romney added “I’m trying to do better and work harder and make sure that we get our message across.”
Mr. Romney addressed questions regarding his ability to excite the Republican base stating “We’ve seen throughout the campaign that if you’re willing to say really outrageous things that are accusative and attacking of President Obama that you’re going to jump up in the polls.”
While Romney declared that he is “unwilling to light his hair on fire” to win, he added “I’m trying to do better and work harder and make sure that we get our message across.” Romney may have his work cut out for him as Santorum continues to capture the attention of conservatives. Lighting his hair on fire may not be such a bad idea after all.
