A pair of players will be eligible to return to action with the Stockton Thunder and two others will be gone when the team visits the Bakersfield Condors on Friday night (Feb. 24).
The Thunder announced on Thursday that captain Jason Morgan has been activated from the injured reserve list and rookie forward Ian O’Connor has been returned to Stockton from the Worcester (Mass.) Sharks of the American Hockey League. The team also announced that center Chris D’Alvise and defenseman Cameron Brodie have been sent up to the AHL.
D’Alvise was recalled by the Springfield (Mass.) Falcons, and Brodie has been loaned to the Texas Stars.
Morgan, 35, has missed most of the season because of various injuries and last played on Dec. 26. He has appeared in just nine games with the Thunder and has been credited with three assists. While sidelined, Morgan has served as an assistant to Thunder Coach Matt Thomas. Morgan was named the fifth captain in the history of the Stockton franchise at the beginning of the season.
O’Connor, 24, returns to Stockton after playing in two games during a brief stay with Worcester. In 45 games with the Thunder, O’Connor has delivered 14 goals and 11 assists.
D’Alvise, 26, returns to Springfield after scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-1 Stockton victory over the Colorado Eagles on Sunday. D’Alvise recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in seven games with the Thunder, and Stockton won all seven games in which D’Alvise played.
Brodie, 23, has logged five assists and 54 penalty minutes in 43 games with the Thunder this season.
The moves are the latest in a string of recent changes for the Thunder. Earlier this week, goalie Olivier Roy and center Ryan Martindale were called up to the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. Last week, goalie Alex Stalock was recalled by Worcester four days before O’Connor was loaned there.
The game Friday is the first of three in a row between the Thunder and Condors. The teams will battle at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA, on Friday and Saturday nights before squaring off at Stockton Arena on Sunday.
