Mount Dora, FL – The IceHouse will hold auditions for the delightful pop musical, The Marvelous Wonderettes, on Monday and Tuesday, January 30 and 31, 2012 from 7 – 9 pm. Auditions by appointment will be held on stage at the Theatre, 1100 N. Unser St., Mt. Dora, 32757.
Auditions by Appointment: The show has four female roles and no male roles. The score consists of 27 popular songs of the 50’s and 60’s performed in a pop music singing style. The show requires four strong female singers with excellent pitch, the ability to hold tight harmonies and to recreate the style of solo pop musical hit recordings of this era. The casting is open to female singers from ages 18 to late 30’s. Though the characters are teens, the actors cast will not necessarily be teens. Four female singers who can plausibly play teenagers are sought with the necessary musical and comedic acting abilities. Some singers will be asked to read from the script; prepared monologs are not needed. Callbacks may be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
Singers are requested to prepare these two pop music songs: Secret Love and Wedding Bell Blues. Auditions will be accompanied by CD tracks for these two songs; a pianist will not be present. Recordings and lyrics will be provided via email when an audition time slot is requested.

The lyrics of 27 pop songs are used to weave together the tale of the girls’ romances, friendships, rivalries and dreams. Songs have four-part harmonies, with each singer being featured on a number of the melody lines. Though the characters are teens, casting is open from ages 18-late 30’s. The four girls have distinct personalities and vocal requirements: Missy: strong soprano/mezzo belt voice and comedic skills; Cindy Lou: the ‘beauty queen’ sultry alto/mezzo; Suzy: adorable and ditzy mezzo voice; Betty Jean: comedic prankster with mezzo/alto voice.
