Proverbs 11:25 King James Version states “The liberal soul shall be made fat,and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” Scrolling through Facebook, there was an entry from a friend who had shared this scripture. He shares scriptures often but this one hit like a ton of bricks. Sometimes we find ourselves in a struggle to give with no return on our giving; especially from others. We are taught not to give to get but if we are honest, we do exspect some grattitude to be shown at least. You may not give a gift back or return a favor back but at least show some thankfulness. Even when Jesus healed the lepers, only one came back to say thank you. It cant always be favor for favor bit it should be favor for grattitude. This scripture is a source of encouragement because it says to the liberal soul, which is a soul that blesses God as an act of adoration. So rule number one, all that we do even when we give to others should be done to the Glory of God. Our exspectation should be from Him and not each other. So we should continue to give even though we have been taken back by the ungrateful because our giving was an act of adoration to God and the benefit of man. So we have been promised in so doing that we will be made fat. Not pounds, but annointed and satisfied with a promise that our grief will be taken away. I will have a fat annointing and a fat satisfaction and God will replace my ashes(grief, pain sorrow) of whatever nature with satisfaction. We all have some pain that we can trade in for satisfaction and joy. So let’s keep on giving. It’s like the old saying, what you make happen for someone else, God will make happen for you. To water simply means to saturate, soak, fill and satisfy and when our giving saturates, soaks, fills and satisfies it is automatically coming back to us; not necessarily the same way we gave it. If we offer someone a ride, God may offer us a good medical report. I dont know how it will come back, God just promises that it will and all good things are from above so it’s all God and it’s all good. We can release ourselves from the frustration of exspecting a return back from those we gave to; God never said that your water would come from the same ground you watered, He just said you would be watered also. This has been very therapeutic. We must keep on giving; our giving is not in vain. No matter what that giving maybe. You could have given a hug to someone who will not hug you in return. That’s okay, learn to give whatever it is in adoration to God because our exspectations come from Him and not from man; who just happens to be sinful and has shortcomings just like us. In fact it is crazy to exspect good all the time from someone who is weak and frail such as sinners. We are sinners who just happen to be saved by grace. We will always be frustrated because we fall short all the time. We must change the way we give, in that now we must give unto God even though we are a benefit to man. God returns the favor to us, He gives the increase to us,He gives beauty for ashes and the payback. Awesome! Release those whom have hurt you because they didn’t say thank you, your exspectations must come from God and God alone.
